Shantell Caven

Adjunct Dance Professor

Caven

Biography

Shantell Caven began her dance journey at the age of 10 learning Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Caribbean, and West African techniques in Orlando, Florida. There, she was taught the importance of being a versatile dancer and being open to experiencing different cultures. Her first job, while in high school, was as a dancer, parade performer and character actor at Walt Disney World. Shantell went on to receive her Dance Performing Arts degree at Florida International University, in Miami. With her work experience and studies at FIU she obtained the tools needed to sustain a successful performing career.

Upon receiving her degree, she was cast in local theme park shows at Busch Gardens Tampa, SeaWorld Orlando, Universal Studios Orlando, and again at Walt Disney World. Shantell later expanded on her theme park experiences and moved to New York to begin a touring career. She was honored to go on tour with the United Services Organization (USO) which took her on U.S. military bases nationally and internationally. After completing those tours she continued performing around the world via cruise ships. Her studies did not end after graduation. Today, she continues to participate in workshops and conferences to study under master teachers. Her versatility has also brought her backstage as a producer and stage manager for local productions and events. Currently, she is a member of the Theatrical Casting team for Norwegian Cruise Line, casting and preparing dancers and singers for ship life.

Shantell is happy to return as an adjunct professor at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø mentoring and sharing her love of dance and culture.
